By Indo Asian News Service New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who succeeds Amitabh Bachchan as the new host of STAR Plus' highly popular game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', said Monday he would try to bring his personality into the show even while making sure it did not lose its earlier appeal. 'It's very singular for me because I am going to host such a beautiful show,' Khan said at a press conference here. He was named to host the show last week in place of Bachchan who steered the show from 2000 for two seasons. 'It is very, very close to my heart like to the millions and billions of people in the country. It is smart, classy, cool and hopefully I will not bring it down and keep it as it was earlier,' Shah Rukh said. The show goes on air in January next year. To a question, he said: 'The show has a set format. In fact, it has an international format. And I hope, I will bring my personality into it. Undoubtedly, the current popularity of the show is due to Mr. Bachchan and I hope I maintain that.' 'I am honoured that Sameer Nair (CEO STAR Entertainment India) and Siddharth Basu (quiz master) thought that I am good enough to join the show.' 'The second part of my happiness is that I am being able to do it in my city of joy, that is New Delhi. I am also very happy that once again I am coming back on television from where I started my career.' Commenting upon the compus of the show he said: 'We will surely present it in a new way. There would be something new in the show. You will find changes in the format. Technically also we have moved ahead - like the number of phone calls and SMSes have gone up. As far as the actual creativeness is concerned, we will start working on it now.' Nair, who was present at the conference, said that KBC was the most important show of STAR because it had boosted its ratings and catapulted it to No. 3 from No. 7. 'We have signed a fresh contract and now KBC will be on air till 2012, but it is going to be a seasonal thing. We will have 52 to 60 episodes per calendar year,' said Nair. Nair said he was confident that Shah Rukh Khan would take the show on the road to success. 'When Amitabh Bachchan declined the offer we thought Shah Rukh is the only person to carry it further. We are thankful to him for accepting the challenge.' Basu was equally confident about Shah Rukh, and said: 'Shah Rukh is classy, charming and smart. He is one of the most entertaining actors. After Don, Shah Rukh Khan is once again stepping into Bachchan's shoes, this time as the new host of the iconic Star Plus show. And yes, SRK realises that he is stepping into some really big shoes. "It's definitely a huge act to follow, but I'll try and do my best. I'm excited to see what I can bring to the huge brand that KBC is," Khan said in a telephone conversation from Sydney where he is shooting for Shimit Amin's film Chakh De India. As per the contract, Khan-he has signed for 52 episodes-starts shooting for the game show in January 2007 and the episodes will have an immediate telecast. The hugely popular show based on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was in its second season when it had to be cut short due to the superstar's sudden illness. Since then STAR has been in talks with Bachchan for the next season, but those fell through. We are indebted to him for what he brought to the show, but now it is time to move on and who better to hand over the baton to than Shah Rukh Khan." Khan is, of course, excited to be back on small screen after a gap of over 14 years. Incidentally, Khan was first spotted in TV serials like Circus, Fauji and Doosra Kewal. "Yeah, I don't know why everyone thinks it's a big deal that I'll be doing TV. I mean, I came from there," he joked. Khan says he's been waiting for the right vehicle to make a comeback on the small screen. "I've been a part of many discussions, but sometimes the role wasn't right, and sometimes, the money. Mumbai, Jan 15 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is going to host STAR Plus' popular quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC), is also featuring in a music video exclusively made for the show - his first such venture.
For the video, he has joined hands with singer-choreographer Ganesh Hegde who is presenting him in a completely new avatar. The two had earlier worked together for 'Don'. The three-minute video is titled 'Kar le kar le tu aek sawal'. 'Shah Rukh has got a completely new, young look in the film. He will be seen donning a hip-hop look and the clothes are also designed to suit the mood of the video. The song is a fusion of hip-hop and Indian music,' Hegde told IANS. 'We have put four huge, lavish and expensive sets in Mumbai. Even now I am shooting for it. We started shooting on Jan 10 and will wrap it up by tomorrow. After that we will do the post-production work,' he added. As far as Shah Rukh's clothes are concerned, Hegde said: 'I shared my thoughts with (filmmaker) Karan Johar. He has done the styling accordingly.' The music video will be unveiled Jan 22 just before the quiz show goes on the air. STAR Plus is, however, going to 10-15-second-long show teasers of the music video before it actually premieres. 'It was SRK's idea to come up with a music video for KBC. He then shared the idea with his team,' said a STAR Plus source. The music video is conceptualised, choreographed, directed and sung by Hegde. Music is by Vishal-Shekhar while Shabbir, R.D. Telang, Kumar and Asif Baig have penned the lyrics. |

Big-Ticket sponsors are queuing up to hitch a ride on the new Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) to be hosted by Shahrukh Khan.
Star Plus is tipped to top Rs 130 crore in sponsorship for the show, with brands like Airtel, Hyundai and UTI having already signed up. In 2005, KBC, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, fetched Star Plus Rs 100 crore plus Rs 55-60 crore from 10-second spot ads. SRK's KBC is expected to earn at least twice as much from spot ad sales. While a 10-second spot ad during the Big B's KBC2 cost Rs 5-6 lakh, on Shahrukh's show, it will fetch Rs 10-12 lakh. Says Paritosh Joshi, president, ad sales and distribution, Star India: "We should reach the Rs 130-crore sponsorship target comfortably." He reveals that in-branding association should get Star an additional Rs 10 crore at least. The channel is also looking at sizeable earnings from merchandising and licensing. "At a time when brands are wary of cricketers, KBC is a great alternative property," he adds. Sponsors seem bullish about the new KBC particularly because of superstar Shahrukh's association with the show. Says Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director, Madison Communications: "KBC is KBC and when you have SRK at its helm, the excitement among sponsors is well-founded. Advertisers like to be associated with big-ticket shows like KBC." For Hyundai, one of KBC's sponsors both in 2005 and 2006, being associated with the show "was a normal progression" because Shahrukh endorses the brand. "KBC has been one of television's most successful shows and SRK is also a key factor for us," affirms G Sanjay, DGM, (marketing strategy and advertising), Hyundai. Airtel, a co-sponsor of KBC since 2000, "hopes to leverage the fact that SRK is also our ambassador". In 2005, Bachchan emerged as the leader among star brand endorsers with Rs 9.28 crore as average monthly estimated spend, while SRK was second with Rs 6.05 crore, according to AdEx India (a division of Tam Media Research) estimates. From January to April 2006, Bachchan's average monthly estimated spend was Rs 3.49 crore and SRK's was Rs 3.15 crore. On other hand, while Bachchan reportedly took home Rs 50 lakh per episode for KBC, SRK is being paid between Rs 70-80 lakh per episode for the show. But will Khan also deliver the eyeballs (in 2000 when Bachchan started off doing KBC the channel's viewership share went up from 2 per cent to 25 per cent according to a special study done by TAM) and justify the faith his advertisers and channel seem to have reposed in him? |

Dutt is one of the prominent members of this organization. Sanjay Dutt informs that he learnt about 'Support' through a common friend and decided to lend a helping hand to the organization. Since, he too has a history of addiction to drugs; Dutt says that he can understand mental state of drug addicted kids and their families. He therefore, tries to as much possible time to the kids. Sanjay Dutt not only visits and counsels them but also and mobilizes funds for the organization. Dutt along with Boman Irani recently shot a special celebrity guest episode on KBC 3. Sanjay Dutt who is an avid watcher of Shah Rukh's show will be seen donning a new avtar, that of a contestant on KBC. Sanjay along with Boman Irani recently shot for an episode for KBC along with Shah Rukh Khan in Film City. It is said that Dutt is so much in awe of Shah Rukh that after watching his antics on the show he messaged the new quizmaster to tell him how much he loved the show. In the past, when friends like Karan Johar [KAAL], Khalid Mohamed [SILSIILAY], Samar Khan [KUCHH MEETHA HO JAYE] and Arjun Rampal [I SEE YOU] approached the King Khan to make a friendly appearance in their films, the actor obliged pronto. Sometime back, SRK decided to back MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES, which stars his friend Nikhil Dwivedi in the lead and is directed by E. Niwas. The latest is, SRK has decided to be a part of the film. Reportedly, a video featuring the actor will be used for promotional purposes. However, Niwas denies the development outright. SRK gifts Santros to KBC contestants
Probably inspired from the Oprah Winfrey show, Shah Rukh Khan and the producers of KBC handed out 9 cars to the contestants of the show. The lucky nine were the ones who were selected for the fastest finger first round but who could not make it to the hot seat. As SRK is the brand ambassador of Hyundai Santro, it was probably the most likely car to be given out. It may be recalled that Oprah Winfrey gave away 276 Pontiac G-6 midsize 2005 sports sedans in 2004 to all the members of her audience present at the studio. Kaun Banega Crorepati, next unic celebrity episode with feature Bollywood's blockbuster hit flick - 'Munnabhai' comic pair - Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani. Making way to Gandhigiri on KBC both Sanjay and Boman will dash the spirit of goodness as practiced in their movie Munnabhai. In their riveting humor and ishtyle, the idilic pair of two intense and multi-faceted actors will get on with the game, as the star host- SRK, warmly welcomes them to celebrate the Gandhi's dictum 'Kar bhala toh ho bhala', inviting them to play for a noble cause! As the show proceeds with a comical sidekick, Sanjay tries out some of his popular Munnabhai frolics- playing along, he once tries to slide an earphone in jest to aid him with an answer, while he is caught by Boman and SRK! Sometimes even consulting Bapu (the famous imaginary character of Munnabhai-2) whom, only he can see and hear, to guide him to the correct answers. All the three master pranksters (SRK, Sanjay and Boman) pull a fast one on Arshad Warsi (aka Circuit, the trusted aide of Munna Bhai), when they call him to tell that he is on their Phone-A-Friend, helpline as they are stuck on the big- 2 crore question! Arshad, caught completely off-guard becomes numb and topples over to just guess an answer, of the hard-hitting question. SRK surprises the audiences, as he tells them about Sanjay's hidden talent of 'air guitaring' and requests him to demonstrate a small piece of his skill on the show. Shah Rukh playing the excelent host and dost also, requests Boman to sing the International popular number - "We are the world" that had originally been sung by various artistes. At this Boman leaves everyone jaw dropped as he actually modulates his voice singing and mimicking all the autentic singers! When it rains, it pours’. This was what happened on the Kaun Banega Crorepati episode aired on the 26th. Normally, the one or two contestants who are lucky and quick enough with their fingers get a chance to sit on the ‘hotseat’ and have a crack at the sixteen questions and two crores on offer. But on this episode things took a dramatic turn towards the end as Shahrukh Khan had been hinting throughout. He had been saying that something that had never ever happened in the history of Indian television was set to happen at the end of the show. But no one expected it to be such a generous gesture. When SRK first said that one of the nine contestants who had not made it to the hot-seat would be getting a Hyundai Santro it sounded quite believable. He said that the remaining eight would be getting consolation prizes. But as it turned out to be in the end, the boxes given to each contestant contained the keys to a Santro. Needless to say, the audience and participants were equally shocked and overjoyed at the same time. However this is by no means going to be a routine at KBC, the current season of which will come to an end this April. For all the contestants this was as good as a jackpot. Till a few moments before receiving the keys they all had been facing the prospect of going back home empty handed. The King has done it once again, he always delights. Whether it is with his movies, his ads or cars. But it is not quite clear whose idea this was. |

Salman Khan unveils NGO on KBC
Salman Khan has received a lot of flak for his infamous deeds in the past. However, the actor has made genuine efforts to rectify his image ever since. After extending financial help to a cancer-stricken child, the brawny actor has decided to institutionalize the cause of helping the disadvantaged. Salman has applied for the registration of an NGO called the Salman Khan Foundation, which will render support to the poor and needy masses. He decided to throw light on his cause in a rarisim episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3. Hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, the episode was shot recently with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif on the hot seats. It is speculated that the duo have won a prize amount of Rs. 50 lakh on the particular show, which they will forward to the Salman Khan Foundation.
